Pont du Gard

overcast 18 °C

Hi All
Today 19th set out to visit Avingon and Pont du Gard. A nice easy 2hr drive on the A9 and I was at Pont du Gard. It is situated near the town of Remulions about 30klms south west of Avignon. What a place to visit very neat and tidy grounds with plenty of walk trails to keep one happy and fit.
The Aqua Duct itself is in fantastic condition for its age and well preserved. photo oppertunities abound as you walk around this historic site. In the summer they even have life guards for a safe swimming envirement, there is kayaking as well all year round. The day was overcast so hopfully the photos are OK luckily I thought to visit before carrying on to Avignon my overnight stop. One thing that suprised me on entry you take a parking ticket then when you leave you go to the information desk and pay ,well it cost 18 euros for my 2 hr stay but there was a limit of 5 passangers per car so if you share the cost is minimal. So I went to Avignon but found I could not navigate to where I wanted to go so opted for the next best thing go to the next town Orange. Spent the night in Orange and visited for a while before heading back to base. As I was leaving Ornage the skies darkened and around Nimes it let loose with an absolute torrent of rain thunder and lightning so my choice to visit Pont du Gard first I think paid off in the end
Thats it for now Ron
